Estimated shipping cost to customer. Dimensions, volume, and rounding.

Translation from Norwegian to English:

Many are requesting functionality to set the price of the shipping method customers see at checkout, based on the actual price the online store has to pay to the carrier.

We have several settings for this. Here we go through them.

Getting Started

To enable estimation, you need to check this box.

To estimate, we need to make some assumptions about the package as well as external calls to carriers. There are many reasons why this can fail, so for that reason, it is a good idea to set a fallback price for the shipping method at the very top.

You can also choose to remove the shipping method if we can't find an estimate. Then the customer won't see this shipping method at checkout.

Estimate and Price to the Customer

You can choose whether to use your discounted (net) or non-discounted (gross) prices as the basis for the estimate.

After you have the estimate, you can choose to add or subtract a fixed amount. To subtract, put a minus sign in front (e.g., "-10").

You can also specify this as a percentage. To subtract, put a minus sign in front (e.g., "-15").

Here is an example calculation with both a fixed surcharge, percentage surcharge, and rounding:

Dimensions and Volume

For certain shipping tasks, it is crucial to calculate the price based on the expected dimension and/or volume. Enable this feature, and we will try to calculate it before we send the request for estimation.

VAT Setup for Rounding

For rounding to be correct, we use these settings in WooCommerce.
